Case Study 3 ~ Legacy Microsoft Server Migrations

Zaptz undertook the challenging task of migrating outdated legacy servers for a retail client with numerous outlets. These servers, running on Server 2003 32-bit with legacy .NET framework, supported a critical Gift Voucher system, whose inner workings were a mystery to the company. Recognizing the complexity of the task, Ezysnap technology was employed to meticulously analyze the systems via Blueprinting. Revealing their architecture and uncovering crucial connection strings to external systems.

The revelation of connection string details proved invaluable, offering the company a comprehensive understanding of how the system integrated with their overall business infrastructure. Building upon this new found clarity, Zaptz was entrusted with the migrationof these legacy systems to modern Server 2022 servers, including the out of support legacy IBM MQ Series Queue manager. Utilizing Ezysnap's capabilities, the migration process to contemporary 64-bit systems was executed seamlessly. Connection strings were meticulously remapped to new SQL databases, ensuring a smooth transition for both production and development environments. Most impressively, Ezysnap achieved the seemingly impossible feat of autonomously cloning applications from the old systems, even in the absence of pertinent information, and seamlessly adapting them to function on Server 2022 64-bit architecture. This transformation was nothing short of revolutionary, akin to teleporting and transmuting the applications to meet the demands of the modern era.
